Job Posting: OSI is hiring a Programs Manager

Submitted by danese on Wed, 2007-10-10 22:08. ::

Hello all you Open Source fans out there!

Some of you have quite rightly suggested enhancements to the overall services OSI offers the Open Source community. We've decided to do something about it...namely, to hire someone to help our all-volunteer Board of Directors work more effectively to get certain things done.

The job description is posted here, or you can just click the "OSI is Hiring!!" item in the navigation bar on the left of this page.

OSI at OSCON 2007

Submitted by danese on Tue, 2007-07-17 21:07. ::

We've been setting up our calendar for OSCON 2007 Once again the OSI Board will be holding public meetings and also a day-long work session. Michael just blogged the "high points" but this is the whole list. As always, we're hoping to see any and all supporters of Open Source. There are some very interesting issues facing Open Source these days. Come be part of the action and help us work out solutions that will work to keep the Open Source Effect alive.

New OSI Physical Mailing Address

Submitted by danese on Wed, 2007-06-27 21:50. ::

For a variety of reasons (mostly having to do with the vagaries of Post Office administration in Noe Valley), OSI has a new official mailing address as of today...

If you want to send us donation checks (or snail mail of any kind)...henceforth please send to:

Danese Cooper, Treasurer
Open Source Initiative
P.O. Box 410990, #256
San Francisco, California 94114-0990

Sincere apologies to anyone whose mail may have been caught in the crossfire of our mail box battle. Please resend.

I received a request over the weekend to promote this year's LugRadio Live. Last year's conference line-up looked pretty great, and this year looks excellent too.

An Open Source Event - OSSCamp Delhi

kinshuksunil writes to tell us about an upcoming free Open Source event in Delhi...

Information is available at http://www.osscamp.in/OSSCampDelhi.

While I can't vouch personally for this event, I attended the very first barcamp and I have to say that I'm increasingly loving the whole idea of unconferences. Glad to see students in India starting to "roll their own". Somebody who attends this one, please let us know how it goes?

Here at opensource.org we get lots of spurious requests for "link exchanges"...what do firearms have to do with Open Source?

Newer, More Modern opensource.org

If you're coming to this URL for the first time in awhile, you may think you're in the wrong place...

Nope, we've just finally soft-launched our new website. The old one was largely hard-coded (as was common back in 1998 when it was launched). It got to be too hard to maintain, as many of you noticed. Many thanks to our volunteer webmaster, Steve Mallett, for putting up this new Drupal-based site that we can edit and contribute to more easily.
